On July 12, the Secret Service received the FBI’s laboratory results, which did not develop latent fingerprints and insufficient DNA was present for investigative comparisons. Therefore, the Secret Service is not able to compare evidence against the known pool of individuals. He and his family were at the presidential retreat at Camp David, Maryland, not the White House, when the cocaine was discovered.

Guglielmi told Newsweek that the discovery prompted a brief evacuation of the building, but the D.C. Fire department quickly determined the substance did not present a threat. A source familiar with investigation told Newsweek that the substance was discovered inside of a "work area" of the West Wing.
